Google Tag Manager – Easy Way for Managing Marketing & Tracking Tags

Google has announced its latest creation for marketers and advertisers – Tag Manager.

Up until now you had to use a plugin or manually insert Google AdWords, Analytics and any other tracking or advertising code, but not any more…

Using Google Tag Manager, you’ll be able to easily control which code goes immediately after the opening <body> tag of every site you own from one dashboard.

A feature that will let you easily and quickly manage multitude of websites from one place without touching site code. The Google Tag Manager container snippet is a small piece of JavaScript and non-JavaScript code that you paste into your pages.

It enables Tag Manager to fire tags by inserting gtm.js into the page (or through the use of an iframe when JavaScript isn’t available) ~ Google Tag Manager, Quick Start Guide

The issue which emerges immediately is how to track down all the tags you currently have on your websites, so you’d know which ones to implement using Google Tag Manager.

In case you manage a lot of websites, it would be best to write the tags down in Google Spreadsheet or any other similar app.

You can also check out Tag Inspector, a web tool which automates the process.
